POPnTOP....I don't think there are many oil power plants.... How about GAS, there's plenty of it & it's cheap, power plants are simple & cheap to build, most existing plants can be converted, if anything goes wrong it doesn't threaten the population with radiation related diseases & birth deformaties for decades, much cleaner than coal, terrorists won't bother with it so minimal security, & the waste (if any) doesn't have to be transported & securely stored for the next thousand yrs, ( we can't even make a plasma TV to last more than 2 yrs) If a gas fired power plant becomes obsolete over time just pull it down & build another one, not so with a nuclear one, I don't think I have spell out the radiation probs.....oh yeah, the downside is we can't make nuclear bombs out of the waste.
