just thought I'd post this economic post:
"I've just read that there are faults in 2 reactors. All seem controllable and the accident has been graded by the government at 4 on an international scale of 0-7 for nuclear accidents at reactors.
Should there be a deterioration in this situation and contamination is released into the most populace part of the planet numerous complexities will arise (if indeed they already have).
Nuclear energy seems the best mid term answer to cutting green house emissions and even our labor party is slowly leaning toward the nuclear logic as alternative energy sources are many years off.
Should radioactive clouds precipitate over wide areas of China will the Chinese still robustly pursue their nuclear energy program. Or just burn more coal?
If they see the human and environmental cost what would they do?
What would any country who is planing a vigorous nuclear energy expansion?
Should there be mass contamination and loss of life will this slow or stop the production of new nuclear energy?
Will mankind let this last opportunity slip through it's fingers and walk into that dangerous global warming enigma or see that there are risks that must be balanced with the benefits of a CO2 world.
What ever we do there is a cost. Recent events are making the difference between the options very stark; the costs very real.
