thorburn....you said "Nuclear energy seems the best mid term answer to cutting green house emissions"..... I can't see know 2 possible meltdowns & associated radioactive clouds drifting across Asia with "mass contamination & loss of life" (your words) now & years into the future & causing birth defects & miscarriages is the best answer to cutting greenhouse emissions, especially since all the "clean energy" credits from nuclear has just been wiped out in one day. & don't forget there are many more power plants built on fault lines around the world that in a few yrs time will be old techknowledgy. And all this for a "mid term answer. again you said "What ever we do there is a cost" my guess is you don't live in Asia then......see my post #4275
