Rare metals are as crucial to the modern economy as petroleum and LPG. JOGMEC manages Japan's stockpiles of seven rare metal commodities, and has the authority to release reserves if warranted by market changes that could destabilize Japan's economy. An essential component of managing these stockpiles is maintaining the quality of both the reserves and the warehouses in which they are stored.
