Suggestions that "japan pulling plug on nuclear age ..." are nonsense.
Japan says it will run stress tests on all its nuclear reactors to ease heightened concerns about disaster preparedness in the wake of the Fukushima accident.
To facilitate the stress tests, all reactors that have been shut down for scheduled maintenance or refueling have not been refueled or restarted. Currently only 19 of Japan's 54 reactors are operating.
The stress tests have now been commenced. As each reactor passes its stress tests it will be refueled and restarted. This will put Japan back in the uranium market.
Also, over 60 nuclear reactors are under construction worldwide. It is estimated that on average 1000 MWe of nuclear energy output is coming online worldwide every 5 days.
Consequently, we can expect demand for uranium to increase considerably.
