Just reading an article on Japan and an upcoming energy Policy debate that their gov will be holding:
http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20111007-705775.html
Some points:
"Many experts believe that formulating a new energy policy will be difficult while the situation at the Fukushima plant has yet to be fully stabilized."People have become so emotional about the disaster that it is difficult for them to think in a cool-headed manner," said Toshinori Ito, energy analyst at UBS in Tokyo."
"The key focus of the debate will be whether nuclear energy should be continued. In July, then Prime Minister Naoto Kan said that Japan should abandon nuclear energy altogether. His successor, Yoshihiko Noda, said that the nation should reduce its reliance on nuclear power as much as possible".
Good to hear that they are holding the debate off until summer as the UBS analyst is right about the emotions still flying around about the disaster.
Just hoping that Japan will still have a steady reliance on nuclear energy for the sake of the spot price and the associated shares that have been taking a battering!! Mine included!
