planning a trip to Japan, had a 3 week itinery but accom bookings / timing very tedious, plus the thought of dragging baggage on / off trains to hotel transport has stunted my enthusiasm. Organised tours had bad reviews. Now thinking of spending most time in Tokyo with day trips. Any must see attractions recommended so not to have wasted the effort of getting to Japan? I think 1 shrine & museum will satisfy. Fuji day trip of course. Had attractions at various cities planned but maybe the years have taken away effort v reward. Everybody has different tastes but would like to hear what impressed previous travellers
