thank you everyone for all your input. My husband is still in mourning over Jaws.
I think there could have been a few factors that I will look into.
there was alot of water going into the pond that is like a dam.... but the sudden temp change could have been a problem.
Feeding might not have been an issue as my husband already had alot of advise on the rights and wrongs of feeding
Maybe a toxin issue as he had fertilized the lawn which is over 2 acres around the pond about 2/3 weeks ago, some residue could have flowed into the pond from the rain.
i will endeavour to look into this issue and post at a later stage, maybe what happened to Jaws.
