So far there appears to be no change in the ridiculously high price of rice in supermarkets here.
I do notice that many restaurants are serving cheaper, lower quality rice with meals.
The talking head economists blab on about deflation in Japan, but so far the only things I've seen since being here on vaction is the various forms of inflation: lower quality products, reduced portions, and wages that haven't gone up or in many cases gone down in the past ten years.
