If you read todays press reports which is all we have to go on the ady gil was rammed while at anchor.

The Japanese have been breaking international law and the their own commision which they are members off by continuing to hunt down whales.

Why ? well it isnt because its so popular,fact is they have had wharehouses full of whale meat which they cannot sell due to world opinion and lack of local demand.

So much so they have for the past couple of years they have been giving it away to schools in an attempt to gain demand
and their sad old days when it was custom.

That part of the ocean they are killing this unwanted whale meat is an International sanctury for breeding whales,which Austraila is not only a signatory too but it is also in Australian protected waters.

The whales come down the Australian coasts each year to breed in that particular part of the ocean and have been doing so for as long as we know.Strange that every year thousands of Japanese tourists flock to Fremantle and Perth to get on whale watching ships as they do all over Australia

In 1994, the Commission declared the entire Southern Ocean to be a sanctuary for whales. Japan agreed to the sanctuary for all whales but minke whales.


To get around the IWC rules the Japanese found a loophole which allowed 'research' Therefore the Japanese have been taking these breeding whales under the guise of research

The nitty gritty is that they are killing these animals not for food,but because their custom will not allow them to
to bow down to presure,too much face to be lost. There wouldnt be an Australian anywhere with any reading of WW11 who is not familiar with this mentality.

If you could imagine allowing a hunter armed with a rifle into a zoo then that is exactly what is occuring here.
