New Zylotech contract for Japanese Submarine site
Further to our announcement of 16th March 2007, Zylotech have now won a new Land-based contract extension to the buoy-based acoustic and video surveillance technology originally selected by the NSW Heritage Office to protect the integrity of the Japanese WWII midget submarine recently discovered off Sydney’s Northern Beaches after it disappeared following Japanese action in Sydney Harbour in 1942.
To further enhance the already existing local protection by Zylotech’s Sea-Watch remote telemetry on-buoy cameras, Heritage NSW has seemlessly integrated Zylotech’s land-based Day/Night cameras and ‘Follow-ME’ vessel surround monitoring systems to allow operators to effectively monitor and identify approaching vessels, tag their direction, alert authorities and access remote information from anywhere using Zylotech’s distributed Telstra ‘Next-G’ based network technology.
To ensure the protection of the wreck, its relics and any human remains, the site is protected under subsection 7(1) of the Historic Shipwrecks Act 1976 and the NSW Heritage Act 1977, through the establishment of a ‘Protected Zone’ around the site which will extend 500 metres in each direction. Zylotech’s Sea-Watch Long Life Camera Sonobuoys have been deployed at this site to monitor and alert authorities of any illegal vessel incursion into the zone, as well as taking photos through the on-buoy cameras.
For security reasons we are unable to be more specific on the exact camera locations, the nature and the overall scope of this Surveillance Project.
The selection of Zylotech for this application is very significant for Zylotech because it showcases the innovative integration of its acoustic detection and its video identification capability, unique to the Sea-Watch range. This reference site could be pivotal in gaining further access to a wide range of maritime surveillance and marine research applications, including oil & gas platforms, aquaculture facilities, environmental monitoring, marine mammal research, defence and critical infrastructure facilities.
Zylotech is pleased that the Heritage Office has selected our 100% Australian developed and world leading acoustic and video surveillance technology to monitor this important part of Australian and Japanese maritime heritage.
