Japan's disappointing contribution to Corona virus

I tend to think of Japan as a clever and advanced country. I am therefore disappointed in what appears to be an inept handling of the Diamond Princess crisis and negligent contribution to a world emergency.

It was obvious that enclosing the passengers and crew in a disease outbreak would act as an incubator. It is hard to imagine a worse environment for disease spread.

It then became obvious that the disease was actively spreading on the ship from escalating confirmations. The passengers and crew should have been rehoused in small groups on shore until each group could be released.

Japan has now released into the public and around the world a large number of carriers. We know this because Australians and others returning have been confirmed as carriers despite earlier testing negative. Their "quarantine" time on the Diamond Princess was not quarantine it was worse than useless.

This negligence by the Japanese may cause more deaths than they did in WW2 once the disease spreads in third world countries without ICUs.
