    Well, the Japanese have to be the best engineers on the planet if you see how their infrastructure stands up to earthquakes. I doubt they will have any significant issue. Probably just steam from cooling water that has been in *proximity* to radiation, but not actually radioactive.

    Interesting this, I thought if the uranium rods were removed from the core on 'shutdown' the reactor would cool straight away as the source of heat generation is gone. Why would it still be generating heat? Can someone explain this to me?
