On first impressions, I believe Raiz 'Jars' appears to be a very clever addition to the Raiz app. 'Jars' adds to a growing suite of savings tools (including round ups and Raiz Rewards) that are helping set this app apart from others in the marketplace, and has potential to increase it's value proposition for many customers. I believe many users utilise this app to improve their savings efforts as much a they do to improve their investment returns (reviews on the App Store support this notion) and I believe the addition of such tools and features will only support this and help Raiz define their niche within the market.

Like Raiz 'Kids' accounts I believe 'Jars' may eventually end up encouraging users to save more money within the Raiz platform than they would otherwise. The ability to set aside 'pots' of funds for specific purposes such as a house deposit or a trip overseas is useful to many and the ability to set individual recurring deposits into these has potential to increase an individual's monthly recurring investments in aggregate. The user's defined purpose for their 'Jars' may also help Raiz in the development of, and marketing of, associated products that add further value to the customer and could also be beneficial to the long term prospects of the company.

The addition of 'Jars' is another positive step by the company to encourage users to save more that the 'spare change' in the Raiz platform. I hope to see more of this strategy in future, and would be interested to hear others thoughts on this app update.
