Just re-read and noted the original announcement was for the counter-party to be granted exclusivity in mainland China, in return for delivering a minimum sales value to JAT, amongst other things.
Exclusivity is generally only sought and granted in higher stakes arrangements. I hope the re-negotiated agreement (whenever that happens) will reflect the high stakes at play in the potential of the Golden Koala brand.
