It's always been fun trying to work out JAT puzzles.
For this particular one, I tend to believe it's the real BlackRock invested in this particular JAT on ASX. To further analyse I will use momo_lol's image here.
1. Why it's not Japan Tobacco?
Japan tobacco has 2B shares outstanding. 14.7M holdings would translate to 0.735%. No where close to 2.8%
2. Why it's this particular JAT?
Currently JAT's outstanding shares are 588.8M, after latest new share issue on 23 May.
So on 30 April (the date shown on momo_lol's screenshot) the total outstanding shares would be 588.8m - 56.2m - 2.5m - 3.3m - 0.001m = 526.8m
14.74m shares held by BR would just translate to 14.74 / 526.8 = 2.8% - This is a perfect match.
Moreover, it hasn't touched 5% line so no substiantial holdings notice is required.
