I used to have unshakeable faith in Access Economics since it was founded by a group of ex-Treasury boffins who could cut through all the fog and present smart analyses with an edge (like calling Victoria under Cain/Kirner the "rustbelt state".)
Chris Richardson was great.... but I must say I now have my doubts after his catapaulting views.
Anyway.... I doubt whether Australians will change habits and squirrel money away. Spending, spending, spending has kept the economy afloat for two decades.
Yes, we might dig up dirt and sell it to China, but 70% of the economy is consumer-driven. And that means spend-driven.
