The Jehovah Witnesses were certainly a spin off from the Millerite movement, you also get the Christadelphians and Armstrongsim etc flow on from that movement.

The Jehovah Witness movement under Russell use to routinely meet in Eastern Star halls and the founder was very close to the Masons and this flowed into the structure of the Watchtower doctrines. That also explains the reason why the Watchtower erected a Pyramid monument adjacent to his grave site which is adorned with Masonic symbolism after his death.

They have been evolving to cater for a new generation a new harvest but always diverging from Biblical teachings, if you want to run a ship off course you do not do an about turn to notify all on board, you change coarse by degrees and let time and distance lead you onto a reef of destruction.

They went from holding a cross to accepting a stake.
They went from holding a Bible and worshipping Jesus to holding a New World Translation and denying their self proclaimed "a god".
