A section from the NT News at 2.42 this afternoon a more detailed article than the above:

Jemena maintains construction will still start in mid-2017 from the Queensland side and gas will flow in 2018 despite the process of retendering.
A Jemena spokesman said: “The decision to resign McConnell Dowell has not delayed the project.
“As part of the project’s resequencing, Jemena will commence construction of the NGP pipeline in Queensland in mid-2017.
“The resequencing gave Jemena additional time to work through outstanding approvals in the NT.
“It also allowed Jemena to review its commercial arrangements with McConnell Dowell without impacting the project’s delivery date or the start of construction.”
It is understood that McConnell Dowell will be excluded from tendering for any of the project.
This is the second delay for Jemena, which earlier this month announced it had been unable to secure land access from traditional owners.
The Wakaya Aboriginal Land Trust has formally lodged an objection with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, stating that the Trust has not given consent to land clearing for the pipeline.
The breakdown forced Jemena to “resequence the construction schedule” for the pipeline.
A new route may also be forced on the company.
“Jemena has determined that the proposed arrangement with McConnell Dowell for the construction phase of the NGP will not meet the needs of the project, particularly when combined with land access approval delays,” the spokesman said.
“This means Jemena will shortly look to appoint construction partners through a competitive tender process.
“Jemena continues to progress its delivery of the NGP which remains on track for completion in 2018.”

Related jobs for residents in Tennant Creek have been pushed back “to a later date”.
The pipeline will have a capacity of 120 TJ/d, and the first supply of gas is expected to come from the existing Blacktip offshore field.

Interestingly Jemna do not see the removal of McD off the project will set them back, they still intend to start in mid 2017, they still expect to be done in 2018. Interestingly though there is a reference that there is an expectation that the first gas being pushed is offshore from Blacktip, not a single reference to the need for CTP gas for Jemna to go ahead and build the pipeline.

I think all of this just shoots holes all through the SoA and what we are being told that Jemna may not go ahead, that the pipeline is contingent on CTP being proven and that it is essential that more exploration etc be done to prove sufficient quantity to ensure Jemna goes ahead with the pipeline.

Does this provide us the bare minimum opportunity to de-mothball our existing facilities and just pump our existing proven gas supplies as we do not have to fill the pipeline. It may not be initially the big gas volumes we hoped for but it would mean we vote no, we own our company, we start selling our gas, we turn profits, we expand our fields and reserves as we go and continue to sell more and more gas and McBank can sit on the sidelines wishing they had been more honest and offered us a more realistic price in the first place.

Just my thoughts, ramblings and opinions. Vote No DYOR.
(Anyone counting the nails in the coffin for the proposal, from today alone 3-0 to no vote)

    Cheers R
