It's difficult to apply the same level of child value we assign them to those parents in the middle east. From my travels in the region it is very apparent the patriarchial family structure is entrenched, with first born males afforded privileges and authority above and beyond their siblings and mothers. Many wealthy get sent to schools in Britain, North America and even Australia for a superior education and grounding.

This leaves the resident patriarch the opportunity to dress up their other low value kids as walking IEDs and waltz them into the streets to blow up infidels.

Without any 'bleeding like a stuck pig' feelings, I would suggest that custom is one of many that runs counter to Judaism and Christianity, where first born is God and the rest of us are seconds. Solomon, David, Moses, etc weren't first borns, but given the nod by their God. Diehard Muslims can't come at that and see that as yet another reason to wipe them from existence.
