Well, how ironic it would be to learnt you were in fact a Jewish child whose parents gave you to a non-Jewish German couple for safe-keeping!
I do have some friends with similar stories….their “adoptive” parents concealed the child’s Jewishness, which the children re-discovered as young adults.
