Sorry Ridge but you are wrong my friend...Tel-Aviv is a modern city and is named after TEL-ABIB (Mount of Green Ears) a place near the river Chebar where Ezekiel and other Jews were exiled...
(I mention this, to indicate further links of everything in today's Israel with ancient Yesrael).
Now Jerusalem (Foundation of Twofold Peace) is as old and as Jewish as History....
It has been the capital of the ancient Nation of Israel since 1070 BCE.
Following the division of the nation into two kingdoms (997 BCE) Jerusalem continued to be the capital of the southern kkingdom of Judah....
The earliest recorded name of the City is SALEM (Ge 14:18).
However, the first historical mention of the City comes in the decade between 1943-1933 BCE, when Abraham came to the area...(Ge 14:17-20).
