what makes a hero?
Is it the guy with a knife between his teeth and 6 metres of ammunition belt draped over his shoulders, grenades filling his pockets, charging the enemy singlehanded?
Or the guy who dies crapping his pants in fear, but goes down fighting and backing up his mates?
I think the latter is the greater hero.Dont you? Jessica went through a horrid experience and survived. She is a celebrity by virtue of her experience, but she didnt "show great courage in the face of adversity", she was unconcious after her crash, and whatever indignities were perpetrated on her person during that period, if any, she was not aware of. She is as much of a hero as a person who is the sole survivor of a plane crash.I think celebrity is a more fitting description than hero. What is a hero? Think of an adversary,half his head shot away,abdominal wounds, legs shot up, still trying to clear his jammed AK, glaring with one functional eye. Wasnt he a hero too?
