    I wonder how many parents buy their 16 year old alcohol with out thinking of the dangers. Or buying them fast cars, motor bikes and etc..

    There are more teenagers killing themselves on the road,over dosing, committing suicide but that seems to be more acceptable and normal then going to sea.

    Her choice is better than being drunk, drugged and pregnant or wrap around a tree at 16yrs. I am not saying every 16yr. is in that situation,as not every 16 yr. old sailing around the world.

    She may,or may not finish her dream,it's going to be tough but it's her call.

    As far as storms go. She is probably safer in her boat than a heavy super tanker with all the stress on the hull that causes them to break up.

    She will get sick of bobbing around like a coconut. But she has a good chance of survival.

    People keep saying she hit the tanker. What about the tanker hitting her.

    A commercial boat crew have more to answer for not avoiding a collision than Jessica.

    They should have a person on duty on the bridge to avoid collision with yachts, other ships ,reef and etc.

    Good luck to her.

    Luck= Learning Under Correct Knowledge

    cheers,
