Christianity began as a Jewish Sect. Jesus and his disciples and followers where all Jews who observed the practices of Judaism, the Passover, etc. The reported words of Jesus have him say that he had come only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Paul, not Jesus, not Peter, was the one who preached to gentiles.
