Don't be fooled by turnover figures.

Turnover figures include the retail value of all the sales made by the franchise owners that run the individual stores.

Travel income for companies like JET and HWT is a far, far smaller percentage than turnover figures

The test is income for HWT & JET not the turnover going through the various agencies.

HWT travel say they are aiming for 1.4 billion turnover.

JET is made up of two brands, Travelwolrd and Jetset

From the travelworld internet site www.travelworld.com.au

"We have over 300 independently owned travel centres throughout Australia with estimated current annual sales in excess of $750,000,000"

"development strategy is to continue to build the Travelworld brand through acquisition and generic growth of established travel centre operators to around 400 travel centres handling annual sales of approximately $1 billion."

So Travelworlds 300 stores is currently 750,000,000 plus with a target of 1 billion.

However also from their website

Jetset Travelworld is the largest travel agency network in Australia in terms of agency numbers.

In the 12 months to April 2002 Jetset Travelworld built a network of almost 740 travel agency franchises by acquiring the agency networks of National World Travel, Travelworld, Traveland (150 franchisees from the original 285) and Jetset.

Given that Travelwold is 300 at 750,000,000 turnover the other 450 stores would have to be adding at least a similar amount of turnover (possibly more) which suggest JETS total turnover must already be very close to or already past the HWT aim of 1.4 billion

HWT turnover will not "eat" JET
