I've heard over the years that among these Russians migrating to Israel were non-Jews as well. I don't know how much truth is in it. I don't know how Israeli authorities were verifying Jewish ancestry of these migrants on their arrival in Israel. One thing I do know is that Israelis wanted to increase their white Jewish population numbers back then so, maybe, they were turning a blind eye on conducting a proper scrutiny of these new arrivals' Jewish background?
