I'm not sure that you've done much research on Menachem Begin beyond a convenient "fact check". He was part of a Jewish gang that attacked and killed British (yes, British ... their supposed allies) in numerous terrorist attacks. They were hoping to kill Churchill as well but they deemed it impractical. So he was a significant figure, but "humble" is pushing it.
