Young Abraham tells his father he is in love and wants to get married.
"Who to?" asks his father.
"Mary Smith," Abraham replies.
Angrily his father tells him no as this girl has a gentile name and will bring dishonour on the family. The next day Abraham is sent to work in cousin Levis jean factory in America in the hope he will forget Mary Smith and meet a good Jewish girl.
Some months later Abraham phones his father to tell hin of his new love. "What is her surname?" asks the father. "Goldberg," replies the son.
"Ah," says the father. "Much better. That is a good Jewish name. And what is her first name son?"
