Both companies directors (Des Randall & Peter MacDonald) denied any wrongdoing by misleading the market and shareholders previously. It simply a mistake from the lower level staffs (bad managers). This recall me with the problem in the past three years with the cases : HIH, ONE.tel (Packer avoided the blame and got Peter Yate in, once the issue have gone behind shareholders mind, Poor Peter must go!), Harris Craft, PAS etc. Why the court still charge Rene?
According to the AFR, asbestos problem appears to most building & construction business, therefore the insurance companies plan to increase the premium a lot higher.
