OPEC lowers output quotas in wake of price decline
Move by energy cartel move should cut 520,000 barrels of daily production
HONG KONG -- OPEC members said Wednesday they will cut crude-oil output by 520,000 barrels a day under a plan to roll back production to quotas set in September 2007.
The move is a bid to halt sliding prices in what OPEC described as "over-supplied" conditions on global energy markets.
An Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries statement issued at the conclusion of its meeting in Vienna said it will roll back daily output to 28.8 million barrels, down from about 29.67 million a day previously...
