India Jindal plans to raise stainless steel output exceeding 2.5mln-ton by 2014

Jan. 5 MetalBiz--India's stainless steel enterprise, Jindal, on December 30, stated that it is expected that its 1.6mln-ton stainless steel producing center in Orissa will be completed in March 2014, at that time, Jindal Stainless Steel's annual production probably exceeds 2.5mln tons, and its status as India's largest stainless steel enterprise will be further consolidated.

It is learned that Jindal's subsidiary, Hisar yields 720,000 tons of stainless steel per year, its 800,000-ton stainless steel mill in Orissa is under the construction, the first-phase project is carried out at the end of 2010 to the beginning of 2011.

As an entire program, the relevant iron ore, manganese ore, chrome ore and ferroalloy matching process facilities will be constructed together with stainless steel melting and rolled mills.

In later phase, Jindal also will build a 800,000-ton stainless steel project as the second-phase of the extension production, and it is predicted that it will be finished at the end of 2014. At that moment, Jindal's stainless steel production possibly reaches 2.5mln-2.6mln tons per year.

The updating productions of Jindal in 2014 include a ferroalloy mill's 40,000-ton capacity and precision strip product mill's 30,000-ton capacity.
