    I understand what you are trying to say, but quite often the sound you are referring to has nothing to do with either Rickenbackers or 12 string guitars.

    Wide Open Road doesn't have a 12 string on it. Neither does "Streets Of Your Town"
    Quite often you can achieve a lovely harmonic by playing a single guitar in a standard chord position, and another with a capo on a different fret position to achieve the sound you are referring to.
    Awesome sound.
    Th Church do this to achieve this sound on "Under The Milky Way"
    A Rickenbacker does have a specific sound, but for my money a Vox 12 string is a much better example of the sound. Ever played a 12 string Teardrop?

    Paul Weller would probably agree. ( But he doesn't have to pay for his Rickenbackers does he...neither does Pete Townshend )
