    The UBS claim makes no sense without a reference to the $AUD. If the $AUD was on parity with the $USD then AGO would be in very serious trouble (not that it is trouble free now of course). If the $AUD was worth $0.5 USD, then at the current iron ore price (less price discount) AGO would be making a profit equivalent to its current market cap every 6 months (which is a big difference from the parity scenario).

    OZ miners report their Australian mine cost and capital expenditure estimates in $AUD. Commodity prices are in $USD but again have to be converted to $AUD revenues to establish profitability or not. Without a reference to the two currencies, you can't develop a proper idea of how a company is performing now, or is likely to perform, in the future.
