I still have many friends in the coal industry in the bowen basin and the companies they work for are struggling to make a profit due to stikes and falling coal prices. Contractors on site and capital works projects are getting severly slashed.
They appear to be treading water and not willing to expand in the near term until the global situation resolves somewhat.
It seems only one 1 party is the only one going hell for leather. I have heard rumours that the next goal is trying to implement fly in fly out works to India i.e. they wouldn't even send their pay in our economy.
Lets hope we get through it as I don't thing the west can support the entire country.
