Maybe i just wait until they make the formal offer then go see my boss and just tell him straight that although I do enjoy working for him the significant increase in salary is a great opportunity for me so i am taking the job.
I'll tell him that I want to depart on the best note possible and will work closely with him to make the transition as smooth as I can.
If he says he will match their offer, then I guess I would stay.
Only problem with that is it feels a bit like black mail, dont you think they would despise me if we went down this road?
Maybe i just take the 'new' job and move on, at the end of the day it feels like the market is going to pay me fair value.
