they would have only informed the director if they valued you so that is a good thing. If you like the job where you are and the people and the environment then give them the chance to counter offer and then you are in the enviable position of having options. Companies don't pay more than they need to and they may not be able to match the offer anyway but if they have been a good company and crew then sometimes loyalty means a lot.
