    We are looking for an experienced Product Development Engineer to help us take our product to the next level.

    Position responsibilities
    We are looking for a person who is as passionate as us and delivering exceptional results and has the ability to work well with others in a team environment, providing input and productive feedback.
    You will be expected to help transform concepts for mass volume production and be responsible for the development and validation of products, systems and components. You will have an aptitude for problem solving and a self-driven appetite for improving performance and efficiency of existing products.
    Strong planning and analytical skills are imperative, and you will also possess great communication skills and the ability to liaise internally, working with sub-tasks of large projects under the instruction of a technical lead engineer.
    Position accountabilities
    • General and task management.
    • Analyse product specifications and applicable regulations/legislations.
    • Define and translate specifications and requirements into clear product performance criteria.
    • Define mechanical performance requirements - Engineering/Design/Development.
    • Support creation and maintenance of process documentation.
    • CAD modelling and part creation.
    • BOM generation and ownership.
    • Ensure that the design meets the defined performance.
    • Participate in design reviews and create DFMEA (based on standards).
    • Define validation tests that are identified as recommended.
    • Assess component performance stability and repeatability.
    • Based on validation/measurement results, define necessary product improvements.
    • Lead the product validations - define, plan, and follow the product validations.
    • Preparation of detailed technical presentations for engineering review.
    • Support reaching the quality, costs and delivery targets.
    • Support design review.
    • Undertake special projects as required.
    • Reporting.
    • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
    Qualifications
    • Essential: RPEQ
    • Desirable: Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial)
    Experience
    • 3 – 5 Yrs. Experience
    • Perform mechanical calculations - Engineering/Design/Development.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
    • Generating new ideas and solutions, with the ability to transition through to part development.
    • CAD software operation (CREO, AUTODESK - preferred).
    • Creating and understanding - technical drawings and 3D modelling.
    • Good understanding of engineering and design principles.
    • Knowledge of various manufacturing process for metals and plastics.
    • Good communication and negotiation skills.
    • Good product development understanding.
    • Write proposals and reports with supporting documentation.
    • Able to interact well with vendors.
    • Ability making technical judgement in deciding work methods.
    • Experience of using Creo, Auto CAD, etc.
    • Understanding of legislation and standards.
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
    • Working knowledge of several other areas of specialisation is advantageous.
