Position overview
This role is responsible for the design of our energy storage solution and includes testing, devising cost effective manufacturing techniques and create prototypes from designs. The role also involves root cause analysis, design for manufacturing analysis, potential upgrades and improvements to various products.
Responsibilities
Build functional product from the idea provided.
Conceive and implement the concept and prepare technical drawings and prototypes.
Improve on existing products.
Taking ownership of technical aspects from concept to product release.
Undertake material qualifications and specifying requirements.
Qualify manufacturing procedures and techniques.
Review problems and provide corrective actions.
Finding ways to improve functionality and efficiency.
Ensure that all development processes are followed and documented.
Follow lean methodology in design process.
Create CAD models and release product drawings.
Lead product and functional validation tests to ensure specifications are met.
Creating BOM, work instructions, test reports, SOPs and training manuals.
Requirements
Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in product design and development, preferably from automotive, heavy or energy storage industry will be an added advantage.
Designing products – plastics and sheet metal.
Understanding of tooling, machining, fabrication and assembly operations.
Knowledge of varied manufacturing processes.
Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Degree
Knowledge of 3D CAD packages – preferably CREO.
Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
Good communication skills in both verbal and written form.

Position overview
This role will develop and manage the engineering for our energy storage solution, prior to mass production in our factory. You will be confident in ensuring the product meets regulatory guidelines and customer requirements and drive each project through the relevant gateways, while seeking out and receiving input from stakeholders. You will also be responsible for the finished product meeting all relevant criteria.
Responsibilities
Complete development cycle and release products within agreed cost and time frames, while minimising lead times.
Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
Ensure that all appropriate processes are followed for production release.
Implement lean in manufacturing and design process.
Technical point of contact.
Prepare project timelines and ensure the targets are met.
Liaise between cross functional teams.
Ensure off tool samples are manufactured to design specifications.
Lead test fits, testing, product validations to ensure specifications are met.
Understand quality functions and implement quality requirements.
Manage suppliers to generate the required outcome.
Requirements
Minimum 7 - 10 years’ experience in product design and development, preferably from automotive, heavy or energy storage industry will be an added advantage.
Knowledge in – plastics and sheet metal processing.
Knowledge of tooling, machining, fabrication and assembly operations.
Knowledge of varied manufacturing processes.
SME in part design encompassing plastics, sheet metal & fabrication.
Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Degree.
Previous experience in energy storage related product development highly regarded.
Knowledge of 3D CAD packages – preferably CREO.
Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.
Project management and supervision skills
Good communication skills in both verbal and written form.
Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office and Project.

Plan & schedule the machines with minimum down time
Record and schedule updating
Read & analyse CAD model/drawings
Identify processes as per drawing
Programming in Mastercam
Machining & Inspecting jobs after completion
Maintaining equipment & supplies
Requirements
Diploma in Tool Engineering,
Mastercam course from TAFE
AutoCAD software knowledge
CNC Programming/operating
CNC machine maintenance
Tool/ Mould making knowledge
Good communication skills
Programming, Operating, manual machining and Tool making in Manufacturing industries.
