The fact is very few public companies have done what Adairs have done, and they are about to be singled out and dealt with subjectively in a way that will cast negative light over the moral compass of management.
They can either quietly nip this in the bud now, or nip it in a much bigger bud in time to come, it's their choice. The media can be a brutally effective force when they have their heart set on making something happen.
