I think most young men would jump at the chance to be a plumber, and if you believe in a free market place then pay the money and they will come, in my own industry ( meat) we went from being quite well paid to now being well below the average wage and no secret that the industry cant attract workers so 457 workers are brought in, this leads to companies offering smaller wage increases in eba negotiations with greater production ie go faster as the 457 workers vote on eba offers, australias biggest meat producer jbs does not believe in wage increases for inflation, ie you have to pay for any wage increase with faster production, this leads to more migrant workers and tougher conditions so the cycle just gets worse..
