I actually appreciate Joe’s comments regarding Orocobre. Joe is neck deep in the industry and speaks to many people in the know and they are telling him what the customers feel about the products. Sometimes the truth hurts.
Given that, I really think the company needs to come clean on the next conference call as to why they do not produce near the percentage of battery grade product than they can. Company answer is their customers didn’t order that product. Real answer is probably their customers don’t want that product because it doesn’t meet their specifications.
I think the company needs a good kick and should to be far more transparent. Joe’s final few sentences really need to sink in at headquarters.
“What you really need to focus on is investing in producers who are capable of delivering a high percentage of increasingly tighter specification material in the lower half of the cost curve. For those producers, price will not be an issue.”
