The government collects taxes to fund spending, generally and may borrow to stimulate the economy. But if the government trashes a booming economy mid cylce and has borrowed way too much during periods of high GDP, its a warning sign that that fiscal policy is no longer sustainable. That's why the LNP will be getting the job to run Australia for the decades to come...
