Hanrahan, IMO those who take from people who have almost nothing and deliver it to those who have almost everything are truly "miserable at heart" ....

IMO that's exactly what Tony Abbott's 2014 Budget attempted to do; delivering windfall returns to the likes of the BCA, the MCA, multi-national corporations and Australia's wealthiest people [75 of whom paid NO tax at all in the 2014 FY].

IMO no-one on Planet Earth should feel sorry for Joe Hockey. Given the privileged position he had as Treasurer of the wealthiest people on Earth [Creedit Suisses 2013] whose country's economy was declared by the IMF as one of the strongest on Earth; Hockey could not have done worse!
