The announcement of the new pricing mechanism for spodumene supplied to Ganfeng from Mt Marion is an important milestone. After Mt Marion and Galaxy's Mt Cattlin are ramped up to full production they will collectively represent more than 50% of the spodumene supply from Australia to China. Higher concentrate prices are a further indication that there is, in fact, a long term "new normal" in global lithium prices. Look for Albemarle and Tianqi to have a visit from the Aussie "taxman" who is more than likely to request market based transfer price in the future.
