VitalLink
VitalLink is a small, lightweight and durable medically approved
telemedicine computer that can connect to and communicate with medical
devices (peripherals) in order to control their operation and to receive
physiological data from them. These medical devices can range from
equipment with wireless connectivity to existing electronic bedside
monitors.
VitalLink unit collects the medical information provided by the
peripherals, organises it into a consistent, synchronised format and then
passes the data stream over a live link to monitoring devices for viewing
and computers for storage or further manipulation by third party software
applications. In this way, local PCs or PDAs with wireless connectivity
can, subject to appropriate authorisation, view the real-time telemedicine
vital signs directly from the VitalLink unit.
VitalLink can connect to other devices both medical and non-medical in
many ways; wirelessly by Bluetooth or 802.11b, cellular via a 3G/GPRS/GSM
data card, or wired connection such as RS-232, TTL, USB or Ethernet
(RJ-45). Peripherals do not need to be limited to medical devices.
The basic VitalLink kit includes the following peripherals: non-invasive
blood pressure, temperature, 6 or 12-lead EKG/ECG and SpO2. EKG and SpO2
data are provided to VitalLink via Bluetooth while NIBP and temp have been
integrated into an expansion pack (XPac). The XPac can also host an EtCO2
module if you require this optional capability. Additional capabilities
are available for specific applications, please ask your sales
representative for additional information.
