In the recent FY17 results presentation, CEO, Leigh Jasper , spoke of some very recent and very large infrastructure project wins for Aconex in the ANZ region.

"Finally, Aconex is particularly well positioned to benefit from the increasing investment in infrastructure. A number of our key customers, such as CIMIC, John Holland, and Lendlease, have recently won large new programs and we expect to see an increase in revenue from this segment of the ANZ business."

CIMIC & John Holland's 22nd June $2.81bn Sydney Metro tunnel win was clearly one of these new Australian mega-projects Leigh was referring to. The following is a video of the project launch, and a CIMIC article on the progress of the project.

CPB Contractors: Our team is now starting the big dig at Sydney Metro to deliver a new metro railway crossing deep under Sydney Harbour.

On 22 June 2017, CPB Contractors, with its joint venture partners, was awarded a $2.81 billion contract by the NSW Government to deliver twin 15.5km tunnels and associated civil works on Stage 2 of the Sydney Metro project – Australia’s biggest public transport project.
    Design and construction works include:
    • Twin 15.5 kilometre tunnels from Chatswood to Sydenham travelling under Sydney Harbour and the CBD using five tunnel boring machines (TBMs).
    • 57 cross passages approximately every 240 metres between the tunnels and a temporary access shaft at Blues Point.
    • Tunnel dive structures at Chatswood and Marrickville.
    • Excavation of six new underground metro stations at Crows Nest, Victoria Cross, Barangaroo, Martin Place, Pitt Street and Waterloo.
    • A crossover cavern at Barangaroo to allow trains to cross from one track to another.
    • Design and manufacture of about 99,000 precast concrete segments to line the tunnels.
    • Demolition and removal of existing buildings on the construction sites.
    • Tunnel and station excavation works are expected to start in coming weeks with the contract to conclude in mid-2021.
CPB Contractors is Australasia’s largest tunnelling contractor, working across the roads, rail, water, power and utilities sectors. In Australia, our tunnelling history goes back to 1958 and the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme. In South East Asia, we’ve built tunnels in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Malaysia.

Working closely with clients and partners, our projects connect communities, play a key role in urban and rural development, help drive economic growth and provide vital, long-term infrastructure.
