Reeler some may indeed be coming on ideology etc but I venture to say I believe most are hell bent on a better life than is available in the hell holes and sand pits they come from. I know personally I would do whatever necessary to safely leave those places.
Is is also odd that people so often claim they will do terrible harm to this country and I am equally guilty of being intolerant of their religion. But then I am equally intolerant of ALL religion.
It is just 50 years ago when bigoted people showed this same intolerance to "WOGS" and that so called trash coming from Europe. And after one or two generations most of these trash people have turned into really great neighbours and family members. I guess the difference with me is this....... I see everyone as a person - I couldn't care less if they are white, black or brindle , they are simply human beings no better nor worse than I and with expectations no different to mine.
As for the silly religious stuff, yes that worries me but no more than any other dogmas and the RC religion being dragged through enquiries worldwide is testament to this evil side. Much of any religion is pure evil and the Islamic one is no better.
I am a supporter of neither political party either because party politics stink. Just how anyone thinks a party system is healthy when individuals are told what way to vote is beyond me but that happens on all sides. Sure the Libs say they don't but anyone who votes against Lib party lines can kiss his future promotion goodbye - so sensible decisions based on decent thinking is wiped out by the party system. That is why I love to see the maximum of fully independent politicians in parliament. At least some thought goes into policy that way.
As for the boats being stopped - I would love to see it but I honestly doubt that can ever be successfully achieved but something must be done as it is out of control. I cannot see Rudd getting any mileage whatsoever out of the boat issue because almost everyone wants the matter addressed regardless of party thinking. I hope whoever is elected is successful in gaining some control of the situation.
Perhaps prosecuting every boat captain involved and imposing severe penalties for smuggling may help but then I am not fully conversant with how these boats are operated so it may well be useless anyhow. But I doubt we can ever expect Indonesia to do our work either because they certainly don't want the extra population.
This is a worldwide huge issue and Australia's problem is very small by comparison with other countries influx of illegals.
