    Chuck,

The issue of WMD has two parts, the weapons and the Regime.

The weapons were only likely to "fall" into the hands of terrorists if the Regime remained in power.

The Regime has gone and if the WMD do exist they no longer present the ealier threat they did through transfer to terrorist groups.

Thus the issue of the WMD has become largely irrelevant and the big issue is the transition to a new representative Iraqi government.

Neither the Iraqis, as far as has been expressed by them, nor the US want the UN involved as an interim administrator and there seems little point of UN involvement beyond humanitarian aid, provided there is a speedy transition to Iraqi interim rule.

The location of the WMD and their destruction surely is a much lower order of priority than when the Ba'ath Regime was in power. Hence the UN inspection process.

The removal of the Regime, by an act of war, is adequately "legitimised" by the emancipation of a brutalised people.
