I understand that the legal system is frustratingly slow but David Hicks legal processes are far from exhausted. Any conviction would be set aside by a US Supreme Court decision invalidating the Military Commissions. In addition, if the duty of care case is pursued in the Federal Court and appealed to the High Court, there is the possibility of compensation for David Hicks that would not be classified as profit. If the US military agrees to a plea bargain of a few months sentence, it would seem to me an acknowledgment of the lack of any case against David Hicks. The US is not known for going soft on traitors or terrorists.
Disclosure - my interest is to rub Howard & Ruddock's noses in the nasty political game they have played for five years and that has now turned against them.
